About Scott

Please allow me to introduce myself: my name is Scott Porad and I currently work as the Cheezburger Technology Officer of the Cheezburger Network, the company behind the hugely popular I Can Has Cheezburger? and Failblog.org. The Cheezburger Network is a collection of web sites where millions of people share moments of joy through the humor and wonder of LOL.

Before working on Cheezburger, I worked primarily in e-commerce and online retail as part of the initial launch team at drugstore.com.  At drugstore, I had many roles in both technology and marketing.  At first, I managed the team of developers and testers who built the front-end of the web store.  Then, I founded the Product Management group in the Marketing team.  After that, I spent a short, but extremely intense (and personally influential time) managing IT Operations.

Before drugstore.com, I worked for Paul Allen’s Starwave, primarily spending my time on the content management systems for ESPN.com.  Prior to that, I worked in New York for Seth Godin at Yoyodyne Entertainment implementing some of the first online permission marketing campaigns, and then at Small World Software on the first online fantasy sports games.

In sum, I have spent my entire career working online, and consider myself pretty fortunate—every step along the way I’ve has given me the opportunity to be involved with world class, cutting edge leadership and pioneering on the Internet.

As a result of all these wonderful experiences, I regularly advise and consult about the Internet and web startups.  I genuinely enjoy sharing my experiences with others—sometimes I think my true calling is to be a teacher or academic—so don’t hesitate to contact me if you’d like my assistance.

Outside of my professional life, I live in Seattle, Washington with my wife and two children where we ski together in the winter and swim together in the summer.  And, if you read my writing you know that I’m hopelessly addicted to golf and love music of all types.
